Harvest Time
From Yard To Table
I am so excited this time a year. I get to harvest my fresh Basil,Dill and Cilantro. These herbs are so easy to grow. I planted them directly using seeds. There is nothing like fresh picked herbs used in a recipe. Summer time is great for guacamole with fresh cilantro. Dill salad dressings and dips. Not to mention oven baked pizza with olive oil, garlic and fresh basil.
I was finally able to pick some fresh Roma tomatoes and cucumber from the garden too. I use Roma tomatoes a lot in pico de gallo along with the cilantro. I usually put a little salt and pepper on the cucumbers and eat them as a great snack or just put some in my water bottle for flavour.
Don’t be afraid to try your hand at gardening. It is actually very gratifying to see mother natures accomplishments with a little of your green thumb in it.
If you don’t have a yard or a garden area to plant then don’t worry. There are many places that sell potting bags or buckets you can use even on balconies if you are in an apartment. Give it a try if you haven’t already and enjoy the flavours are beautiful earth has to offer when loved.
